If human beings were unable to experience the beautiful and overpowering sensation popularly known as falling in love, the world could never see some of the most powerful music, art, literature, or film. We would also be missing out on one of the most profound facets of human existence. Falling in love is puzzling, scary, humorous, and life-changing all at the same time. Once you’re trapped in its charm, you know that there’s no looking back. And here are 10 crazy symptoms you might experience while falling in love.
1. YOU GO TO SLEEP AND WAKE UP TO THE THOUGHT OF THAT SPECIAL ONE
He/she is on your mind constantly. From the time you go to sleep to the time you wake up, your brain is sub-consciously thinking about the person. Even throughout the day, no matter how busy you are; somewhere at the back of your mind, he/she is always there in your thoughts. Well, it’s not crazy. This is how love feels like.
2. YOU SMILE AT RANDOM TIMES OF THE DAY
You friends and family catch you smiling all the time and you keep denying it though somewhere deep down, you know they aren’t wrong. Smile texting is the perfect example of what happens when you’re falling in love. You experience weird, giddy feelings of absolute joy, even when you’re not physically with that special person.
3. YOU DO EMBARRASSING THINGS
You start doing things you would have never imagined yourself doing. In fact, when you were single, you used to even judge couples doing those exact things you are doing now. You start celebrating month anniversaries and suddenly Valentine’s Day holds so much importance in your life. You read love quotes and articles and all love songs make you smile.
4. YOU SWITCH YOUR OVER-THINKING MODE ON
When you are in love, you naturally start caring a lot for the special person. Sometimes that leads to getting a bit obsessed about tiny things that can be easily ignored. You start over-thinking and end up relating every small thing to the person you love. What is she doing? Where is he going? What is she thinking? Why he isn’t replying? There’re multiple questions going on your mind all the time.
5. YOU HAVE BUTTERFLIES IN YOUR STOMACH AND A FLUTTERING HEART EVERY TIME YOU SEE HIM/HER
The sensation that we call “butterflies in our stomach” is true in reality. Falling in love releases oxytocin, creating feelings of happiness, but it also releases cortisol, or “the stress hormone.” Romance is emotional, confusing, and stressful. Levels of the hormone adrenaline go up when you’re around someone you fancy, leading to a whole host of really attractive reactions from your body.
6. YOU THINK THEY’RE PERFECT
Love makes you go blind. Whoever has coined that phrase must have experienced it well. You hardly see any flaws in your special one. You think he/she is the one perfectly made for you. You are swooned over your lover’s charm and blinded by his/her aura. Love overpowers it all.
7. YOU FORGET ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE WHILE TALKING TO HIM/HER
You turn a deaf ear to everything happening around you while you’re speaking to your special one. Your friends don’t want to go out with you because all you do is look at your phone and smile. When he is around, everything else is just background noise.
8. YOU GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO SEE HIM/HER SMILE
You love making an extra effort to see your special person happy. You sometimes call in sick at work just to spend an extra day with him/her or you do things out of your comfort zone just because the he/she likes to do it with you. The best part is you willingly do these things because being with him/her is the only thing that matters to you.
9. YOU SING ALL DAY
You find yourself humming songs even if you have a broken voice at random times of the day. Sometimes you don’t even realize you are doing it unless someone points it out to you. Well, you’re falling in love and you feel happy and carefree, so much so that you can barely contain in within you.
10. YOU START THINKING OF A POSSIBLE FUTURE
Even though the both of you have probably just started dating, you can’t stop yourself from thinking of a possible future with him/her. You build images of “Forever Together” and “Happily Ever After” in your head and can’t stop wondering whether this is it, this is the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with.
Love makes you do crazy things. But in the end, it’s all worth it 🙂
